Thailand will face big guns Japan and Australia in the 3rd round World Cup Qualifying Group B, starting in September. They are joined by Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in what is seen as the tougher of the two groups. Thailand are the lowest ranked team (119) left in the Asian Qualifying competition. The other group consists of China, Iran, South Korea, Qatar, Syria and Uzbekistan.
The top two teams from each group will go to Russia . The two third-placed teams will meet home and away , with the winners facing a play-off against a team from the North America- Caribbean section. Thailand face a monumental task but it is also important to improve their world ranking so there is plenty to play for.
Thailand’s fixtures are as follows :
September 1 SAUDI ARABIA (A)
September 6 JAPAN (H)
October 6 UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (A)
