Thailand is preparing for a change in weather as a cold front from the north is expected to bring lower temperatures starting tomorrow, marking the onset of the cool season. Reports from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) indicate that this front passed over the region over the weekend, bringing strong winds with it.

Despite the anticipation of cooler weather, there are challenges ahead. A southeastern wind is forecasted to bring rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the lower parts of the east, northeast, central region, and Bangkok, along with nearby provinces. The south and the Gulf of Thailand are also expected to experience rainfall, prompting the department to issue warnings to fishermen about high waves and strong winds.

The arrival of the cool front on November 14 will be moderate to strong, sweeping through the country’s upper region. Gusty winds and the possibility of rain in the coming days are expected, marking the commencement of the cool season, which is anticipated to be fully established by Thursday.

The TMD predicts the coldest conditions to be felt on mountain tops during the upcoming weekend. Additionally, a health advisory has been issued, cautioning that the seasonal change could potentially have adverse effects on people’s health.

The department notes that this year’s cool season is arriving about two weeks later than its usual schedule, with the traditional start being in the middle to end of October.
