Authorities seek four individuals in Thailand masquerading as law enforcement officials. These impostors, purporting to be police officers, targeted a residence in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima, where they robbed a couple, Somprat and Jaruwan.

The incident, reported to the Si Khio Police Station, unfolded on November 20 when the thieves, wielding false authority, confiscated a mobile phone and motorcycle key under the guise of investigating Somprat for alleged involvement in money laundering. Employing a firearm to coerce entry, one of the impostors brandished a supposed search warrant displayed on a phone, seizing belongings and conducting a search.

Perplexed by the situation, Somprat reached out to his absent wife, Jaruwan, using another phone. Jaruwan, remotely monitoring through the house’s security camera, detected the dubious operation and promptly notified authorities.

In response to Jaruwan’s report, the criminal group hastily departed, absconding with the mobile phone and motorcycle key. Later inspection revealed a suspiciously planted GPS tracker on Jaruwan’s car, presumably installed by the perpetrators prior to their intrusion.

The couple, engaged in a construction business, affirmed no prior conflicts with rivals or individuals. The invasion left them and their family deeply shaken.

Si Khio Police Station officers possess CCTV footage displaying the culprits’ faces, aiding ongoing investigations to identify the perpetrators and gather their fingerprints left at the scene.

Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police Commander Narongrit Dansuwan emphasized the need to authenticate the men’s status as genuine officers, highlighting their deviation from standard police procedures. Typically, authentic officers present a printed search warrant and request the homeowner’s signature before commencing any operation.
