
A tragic incident occurred as a car, on its way to a family member’s ordination ceremony, veered off the road and fell into a canal between bridges. This led to three deaths and two injuries. Shockingly, a one-month-old girl survived after being thrown from her mother’s lap outside the vehicle. The event took place yesterday around 1:30 pm.
Deputy Inspector Kittikawin Umathitipong from the Nong Han Police Station in Udon Thani province received a report about the accident. It involved a car losing control and plummeting into a canal beneath a bridge near the Nong Han Subdistrict Administrative Organization on the Udon Thani-Sakon Nakhon Road in Nong Han Subdistrict, Nong Han District. Multiple casualties were reported, prompting a collaborative effort with medical teams, the Udon Thani Dhamma Promotion Foundation’s rescue team, and highway police rescue teams, as reported by KhaoSod.
Upon reaching the scene, they found a white Honda car with Udon Thani registration plate Kas 90 submerged in the canal between the bridges. One person was found deceased inside the car, while five others were trapped and injured. Rescuers swiftly used cutting tools to free the victims and rushed them to the hospital. The deceased was identified as 66-year-old Jeeranun. Among the injured were the driver, 44-year-old Taweevat, 33-year-old Nadaporn, and 41-year-old Pakamas. Additionally, the one-month-old girl, Jariyawadee, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the car had left a residence and was en route to a relative’s ordination ceremony in Chaiyawan District, Udon Thani province. The accident occurred when the car lost control near the site, plunging into the canal between the bridges, resulting in three fatalities and two severe injuries. The police will conduct further investigations into the driver to determine the exact cause of the accident.
